Patch 8.13 - Fishing Archaeology
A new Archaeology branch has arrived, and this time the journey leads beneath the waves. Captain Barnaby has dropped anchor near the Archaeology hub, bringing with him the secrets of the ocean and a brand new way to progress through Archaeology.
With the release of Fishing Archaeology, players can now uncover lost treasures from the ocean floor, collect rare nautical currencies, unlock new rewards, and build toward some of the most unique archaeology items yet.
🌊 Fishing Archaeology Has Arrived
Fishing Archaeology expands the Archaeology system with a new branch centered around fishing and the mysteries of the deep.
Like the other archaeology branches, Fishing Archaeology follows the same core progression loop:
- Use a specialized infusion
- Perform a natural gameplay activity
- Discover rare archaeology drops
- Trade them with a dedicated NPC
- Progress toward pets, cosmetics, mounts, heirlooms, and more
To begin your voyage, head to:
/warp fisharch
There, you’ll find Captain Barnaby, ready to guide you into the depths.
🛠️ Aquatic Affinity Infusion
Fishing Archaeology begins with a new fishing upgrade: Aquatic Affinity.
This infusion allows players to tap into the “rhythm of the tides,” changing the way fishing works for archaeology progression.
🏺 The Lost Currencies
As you fish with Aquatic Affinity, you’ll begin uncovering four new archaeology currencies from the abyss.
These can be traded with Captain Barnaby for exclusive rewards.
Fishing Archaeology currencies:
- Petrified Coral (Common)
- Hardened reef fragments from the dawn of time
- Sunken Doubloon (Rare)
- Heavy gold coins lost to the sea by ancient civilizations
- Ancient Trilobite (Epic)
- A perfectly preserved prehistoric crustacean
- Leviathan Scale (Legendary)
- A massive shimmering scale from a beast of myth

As with the other Archaeology branches, these exchanges are designed to be repeatable and rewarding over the long term.
🦈 New Combat Pets: The Shark Squad
Fishing Archaeology introduces four new combat pets, each bringing a different kind of aquatic chaos to battle.
Available shark pets:
- Oceanic Shark
- The classic apex predator of the blue
- Dragonborn Shark
- A prehistoric beast with armored plating
- Baby Shark
- Small, fast, and impossible to forget (du du du...)
- Chef Shark
- Comes equipped with a tiny chef hat and a taste for fresh sushi

These pets join the growing Archaeology reward pool and give Fishing Archaeology its own distinct collection path.
🐡"Found Nemo’s Spear"
This special weapon rewards players for hunting sea creatures, giving you a chance to discover Fishing Archaeology loot as you fight.
Each day, you can uncover up to 3 discoveries, including:
- Petrified Coral
- Sunken Doubloon
- Ancient Trilobite

If you enjoy Fishing Archaeology, this is a nice new item to bring with you on your next ocean hunt.
